This year Yom Hashoah or Holocaust Remembrance Day falls on  Monday, May 6, 2024. On this day, we remember the victims killed by the Nazi-regime in the Holocaust.

For the past 29 years, the League for Human Rights of B’nai Brith has presented a special program on this occasion called:

Unto Every Person There Is A Name.

During this program, a list with names of Holocaust victims is read aloud by Holocaust survivors, family members, public figures, and private citizens.

The names of victims are those who are inscribed on the Holocaust monument on the grounds of the Manitoba Legislature. They belong to victims who have / had family members in Winnipeg or whose family members survived the Holocaust and moved to Winnipeg after the Second World War.

The reading of individual names restores a measure of dignity to those who were stripped of their identities and robbed of their lives. By personalizing the tragedy of victims and survivors, this program seeks to defy the dangerous trends of ignorance and indifference that are ever present in our society.

Each reader will read between five to fifteen names. We will try to cover as many names as possible.

This year the program will be held at the Congregation Etz Chayim at 1155 Wilkes Avenue from 9:30 to 11:30am .

Please confirm your participation in the “Unto Every Person There is a Name” program by April 19th.
